Church Finances

LDS Church Finances.png

Critics eagerly point out the relative wealth of the church as proof that the church is nothing more than a greedy business entity, and complain that the church is not forthcoming about their finances.  Interestingly, none of the critics have ever published where their own donated money goes, even amidst accusations of mismanagement of funds. They also fail to consider what the church actually does for the poor and needy (around $1 Billion Annually) and also fail to consider the teachings of the church to it's members to be generous with their money.  This page attempts to articulate a small portion of what the church, and members do from a financial and resource perspective to help others, including those not of our faith.

Mormons are the most generous Americans, both by participation level and by size of gifts. Evangelical Christians are next. Then come mainline Protestants. Catholics lag both. Jews give high dollar amounts on average, because they have high earnings, while trailing Protestant givers in donations as a share of income. Church Finance Videos

From the Church Newsroom.  Church leaders discuss church finances in this video published by the church itself

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is involved in a wide variety of investments and businesses. Why is that? That’s the question Saints Unscripted explores in this episode.

In the last few years you may have heard about the wealth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but you probably haven't heard much about the poverty it endured to get to this point. Saints Unscripted unpacks the difficult history of the Church's deep, soul-crushing debt, and how it became the financial giant it is today.

Latter Day Saints Q & A also provides a good perspective on church finances.
